On any given day, we encounter various people and, consciously or subconsciously, we assess and categorize them. Some will be biased assumptions, based on our own experiences, education, and background.
According to an article in Psychology Today, “It takes a mere seven seconds to make a first impression.” Research shows that much of human communication is non-verbal. From the arch of an eyebrow, the tilt of one’s head, the curve of a smile, a lot of communication is in our body language and in our pheromones. In the first seven seconds of meeting someone, we can determine whether or not to trust them.
Our energy, electromagnetic field, aura, whatever you want to call it, extends beyond our body, so we can also feel people’s energy. This factors into our perception of another. For example, have you ever encountered someone, and then thought, “Wow! This person seems like my cousin Susie!”? They have a similar energy frequency as your cousin Susie, and you could feel that.
Trust your instincts on first impressions, and the feelings you have when you are with one another. I invite you to spend more time with the people who make you feel good. Especially the ones that leave you with a happy feeling after you speak with them or hang around them. Those are your people.
