D. Lisa studied at Gage Academy of Art in Seattle with the founder, Gary Faigin. She works with a variety of mediums but uses traditional drawing tools and techniques on a large and small scale. She creates emotive, expressive works using palette knives and bold brush strokes in oil.
She also explores the intersection between meditation and art through her “Doodle Like an Artist” , and Creativity as Spiritual Practice courses. D. Lisa teaches classes in her studio, inviting the public to learn and understand her process. She has exhibited all around the Seattle area and was a recipient of the 2020 Shunpike Storefronts project award.

D. Lisa West studied at Seattle’s Gage Academy of Art, where she trained in the renowned Still Life Atelier under the late artist and educator Gary Faigin.
Drawing inspiration from dreams, nature, intuition, and the unseen threads that connect all living things, D. Lisa’s work is an exploration of spirit made visible. Her art ranges from large-scale acrylic and oil paintings to intimate still lifes, and more recently, botanical ink works created in Ojai using natural pigments on waxed paper. Each piece is an invitation to slow down, listen deeply, and reconnect with the wisdom found in the natural world and within oneself.
A lifelong student of creativity as a spiritual practice, D. Lisa believes that art has the power to reveal, heal, and transform. Her creative process is guided as much by intuition as by technique, allowing images to emerge organically through curiosity, presence, and wonder.
In addition to her studio practice, D. Lisa teaches creativity courses and workshops, encouraging both artists and non-artists to rediscover their innate creative gifts. Through simple materials and mindful exploration, she helps others cultivate a deeper relationship with imagination, intuition, and the sacred act of making.
