One of the things that’s really helped in understanding my dreams and what my subconscious is trying to tell me is keeping a journal on my nightstand. Whether it’s a fragment of an image, a feeling, or a word, I immediately write it down in my journal. By creating this habit, I’ve been able to recall more details from my dreams.
To this end, I’ve created and designed two journals with a friend, both of which are currently available on Amazon. The following is an example of what to do to create your own journal, whether it’s a blank book, a spiral notebook, or even a journal that is aimed at this specific task.
Here are some quick tips:
1. Keep the journal (and something to write with) near your bed so you can write down the dream as soon as you wake. In order to recall the dream it’s best if you write it within ten minutes of waking.
2. Jot down three quick notes about the dream, bullet points, perhaps just a word or phrase.
3. Write the dream in as much detail as you can recall. Feeling, sights, sounds, smells. Where are you? Who are you with? What are you doing? Is it easy? Fun? Is this a nightmare? Have you had this dream before?
4. Note what is happening in waking life and see what resonates between your dream and the events in your life.
I believe that dreams are your psyche talking to you. Your higher self, the universe, helpers and guides, the wisdom available to everyone in the quantum field. You can access wisdom in dreamland that seems unavailable in waking life. Dreamland comes with a different language, so sometimes we don’t understand them. Regardless, there is wisdom there if you stop and listen. I’ve been writing down my dreams for most of my life. I read them after time has passes and they seem obvious! Not always at the time I dream them…
As a wise person (aged 2) once asked me, “which is real, when we are dreaming, or when we are awake?”
Both, we decided. They are both real.
Pro Tip: If you are facing a challenge or have a particular problem to solve, you may ask for a dream.
Many brilliant minds have done so.
Write in the dream journal: “I want to have a dream to answer this question, “What do I need to know about…” or a similar question.
Ask.
You will have a dream.
